Krell produces quality, innovative scientific publications.
These publications have successfully promoted graduate fellowship
programs, illustrated the impressive work occurring in the
nation’s labs, and highlighted mission agencies and their
accomplishments. Krell also manages numerous conferences,
and successfully captures and streams presentation information
via the Internet.
DEIXIS Magazine
DEIXIS was developed in 2002 as an annual publication for the DOE
Computational Science
Graduate Fellowship
(CSGF) program. It discusses science at eight of the Department of
Energy’s multi-purpose laboratories, highlights the
fellows’ practicum experiences, and profiles alumni. The
publication has helped to increase DOE CSGF program recruitment,
aided in practicum selection, and increased promotion of the
happenings at the Department of Energy labs.
DEIXIS has met with tremendous success and accolades, including nine
prestigious awards for its first three publications.
Genome –
Genes, Atoms and Supercomputing: The Origins
of the Human Genome Project Brochure
Developed as a supplement to the DEIXIS publication in the 2004-2005
issue, Genome – Genes, Atoms and Supercomputing: The Origins
of the Human Genome Project discusses the origins of the human
genome project. The publication illustrates the Department of
Energy’s little-known role in initiating the
genome project and DOE’s leadership in high-performance
computing.
Compose Journal
In 2005 the DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (CSGF) program launched
an annual essay contest, open to current and former fellows, to write an essay on
some computational science topic of personal importance geared toward a non-technical
audience. The winning entries, after some professional polishing-up, are
presented in the electronic annual journal Compose.
Alliance Brochure
Krell was asked to develop
a brochure for the Academic Strategic Alliance Program (ASAP),
initiated by the Advanced Simulation and Computing (ASC) program. The
program is made up of five long-term strategic alliances with
research universities focused on multi-disciplinary problems.
This brochure should be published in 2006.
HardWired Newsletter
Krell launched the HardWired publication as a quarterly newsletter
accompaniment to the Department of Energy High-Performance Computer
Science Fellowship. Developed and produced by Krell, HardWired
communicates activities within the high-performance computing
programs at the three Department of Energy Defense Laboratories
– Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratory
and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
