Undergraduate Computational Engineering and Sciences
Award Program |
The Krell Institute is pleased to announce that a winner has
been selected for the UCES 2005 award. He is
Ignatios Vakalis, Professor of Math and Computer
Science, Capital University. His award was for development
of Computational
Engineering and Science course material, distribution
of web-based tools with cross-disciplinary impact, and establishment
of the Keck
Undergraduate CS&E Consortium.
Another entry was deemed to merit recognition as well. Therefore,
an Honorable Mention has been awarded to Tom Murphy, Professor
of Computer Science, Contra Costa College, for the development of a multi-node
(up to 8) portable computational cluster (named
Little-Fe)
for educational use.
The UCES award program was created to promote and enhance
undergraduate education in computational engineering and science
(CES). The goals of the program are to encourage further
development of innovative educational resources and programs;
to recognize the achievements of CES educators; and to
disseminate educational material and ideas to the broad
scientific and engineering undergraduate community.
